Caney Creek District Track Meet

7th & 8th Grade

Recent record breaking performances by an unusually robust number of high school aged track athletes indicates that we may be witnessing the early development of future world-record holders. With this in mind, I was very excited to capture photos of middle school 7th & 8th graders at a local district track meet in Caney Creek, Texas.

In conversation with coaches, I’d learned that one of the 7th grade boys has recorded a wind-legal 10.99, 100 meters, meanwhile an 8th grade boy has run 5:00 flat for the mile. Unfortunately there where no record breaking performances as it was far too windy, but I was surprised to see so many close finishes–as you’ll see in the photo gallery.
